2012 League Guidelines

Recently you received the schedule for the 2012 Zone 6 Girl’s Fastball League. Please read over the following information regarding league and Zone Rep Tournament games:

ü       NEW THIS YEAR: Round robin double headers are five innings games with a ten (10) run mercy rule after 2.5 ( if home team is winning) or any complete inning thereafter.

ü       NEW THIS YEAR: Each team will have a home game on the scoresheets to be determined by the first coin toss.

ü       There are 5 teams will play in  a round robin league (see schedule).

ü       Teams in the league are:Glenboro, Nellie McClung,Pilot Mound/Somerset, Treherne and Westmount. 

ü       Games may be rescheduled by mutual agreement of both teams involved. You do not need to contact me to rearrange a game. Rescheduled games must be played prior to May 18, 2012.

ü       The home team (in consultation with the visiting team)is responsible for arranging the start time for each game they are involved in  and for arranging for officiating. Please ensure that officials are on time and the diamond is in proper condition. I highly recommend the use of certified umpires. Each home team should supply two new (or like new) balls. These balls should be on the list of approved balls in Softball Canada Rulebook. (example Worth Red Dot ball Optic Yellow) No slow pitch balls are to be used. We will be using the Worth Red Dot at the Zone Tournament.

ü      Round robin double headers are five innings games with a ten (10) run mercy rule after 2.5 ( if home team is winning) or any complete inning thereafter. There is a 1 hour 30 minute time limit on league games.

ü      League games are not to be left as a tie.  Use the international tie breaker in the top of the 6^th inning and play until a winner is determined.

ü           Any games not played by Friday, May 18, 2012 will result in a loss being recorded for both teams involved.                                             

ü       Tied positions at the end of round robin play will be determined by the result of the league game involving the two teams. In the event of a loss by each team ( ie game was not played ) the positions of the teams will be decided by                                                                        

o        1. Runs for and against ( not to exceed 10 for any one game )                                          

o        2. Coin toss between tied teams.                                                                                   

ü       The top four teams will attend the Zone Rep/League Finals Tournament. The winner of this tournament will be our League Champion as well as our Zone Representative at Provincials. The League tournament will be held on Tuesday May 22, 2012. Games will be five innings with a ten (10) run mercy rule after three (3) innings. (two and one half if the home team is winning) This will be a double elimination format.

ü       Just a reminder that MHSAA rosters must be completed online AND do not need to come to me this year. These rosters are necessary for all teams in the league.

ü       The cost of registration for the Provincial Rep/League Tournament will be $ 75 per team.

ü           Please email (rloney@prspirit.ca) scores to me and Christi VanDenBusshe (cdvdb@mymts.net) as soon as possible after the games are completed.

ü            I do not need score sheets.
